Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Physical Resources is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of fleet, equipment, logistics, inventory, and facility maintenance programs for Essex-Windsor EMS. Reporting to the Manager, Physical Resources, this position ensures the operational readiness, reliability, and compliance of the department's vehicles, equipment, facilities, and supplies.The Supervisor, Physical Resources provides leadership to the support services staff, coordinates maintenance and repair activities, oversees inventory and asset management programs, and supports compliance with applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures. Through effective resource coordination and vendor management, the position helps ensure the safe and uninterrupted delivery of EMS operations.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Business Administration, Logistics, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Fleet Management, Facilities Management (e.g., FMP, IFMA), or Project Management (PMP) is considered an asset
- Three (3) years of experience in fleet, equipment, facilities, logistics, maintenance, or asset management, preferably in a public sector, emergency services, healthcare, or regulated environment.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience, including responsibility for staff performance, training, and day-to-day operational oversight.
- Experience coordinating maintenance programs, inventory management, vendor and contractor relationships, budgeting, reporting, and operational resource planning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EMS Operations and physical resource management.
- In-depth understanding of fleet operations, supply chain management, and facility maintenance best practices.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Health standards, ambulance service requirements, occupational health and safety legislation, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams, set priorities, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information and interactions using sound judgement and established policy and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, systems, and operational processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance, inventory, or asset management systems.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel within Windsor and Essex County.
- Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified).
- Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC).
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent travel to EMS stations, facilities, and vendor locations across Essex County and Pelee Island.
- Occasional after-hours availability required to respond to urgent facility, fleet, or equipment issues.
- Exposure to outdoor environments, vehicle bays, and mechanical shops during site inspections.
- Occasional retrieval and work with items that may require lifting, pushing, and pulling of items and boxes up to 40 lbs.
- Awareness of immediate surroundings is required due to the confidential nature of the work being performed and the vehicle/ machinery.
40 hours per week.
Salary:
$102,602 – $125,969 (Non-Union)
